The process to get utilities turned on for a Home Inspection or Appraisal is rather simple. Here are a few steps to follow:
Step 1– You must have executed contract back from HUD prior to completing Utility Activation Form
Step 2- Get Utility Activation Form from Field Service Managers (FSM) Click Here
Step 3- Follow instructions on the form. Failure to follow these instructions could cause the contract to be canceled! “Measure Twice- Cut Once”
Step 4- FSM will approve form and state which utilities can be activated and tested. You will be emailed back accepted the form from FSM. Now, your client can call utility companies to schedule turn on/off dates.

*Please be aware some or all utilities may not be allowed by FSM to be activated. If home has broken pipes, missing copper, electrical damage, etc… these will not be allowed to be tested. Please review Property Condition Report (PCR) or Property Condition Summary (PCS) on HUDHomeStore.com under “Addendum’s” tab. This will note damaged items and FSM may not allow these to be activated.
